學科內規

 

1. 석사·박사학위 청구논문 제출예정자는 논문심사 이전에 학과 예비심사를 받아야 한다. 예비심사에서는 본 학과의 전임교수로 구성된 심사위원회가 논문 제안서의 타당성을 심의한다. 

   

2. 석사과정생은 본인의 전공분야 교과목에서 9학점 이상, 학과 타 전공분야에서 각 3학점 이상과 타 학과 교과목을 포함하여 총 24학점 이상을 취득해야 한다. 이는 2017년도 제1학기 입학생부터 적용한다. 

   

3. 박사과정생은 본인의 전공분야 교과목에서 9학점 이상, 학과 타 전공분야에서 각 3학점 이상과 타 학과 교과목을 포함하여 총 30학점 이상을 취득해야 한다. 이는 2021년도 제1학기 입학생부터 적용한다. (*소급적용 불가: 이전 입학생, 총36학점 이상 취득)

   

4. 석·박사통합과정생은 본인의 전공분야 교과목에서 9학점 이상, 학과 타 전공분야에서 각 3학점 이상과 타 학과 교과목을 포함하여 총 48학점 이상을 취득해야 한다. 이는 2021년도 제1학기 입학생부터 적용한다. (*소급적용 불가: 이전 입학생, 총54학점 이상 취득)

   

5. 박사학위 청구논문을 제출하기 위해서는 SSCI/SCI/A&HCI 등재학술지 또는 한국연구재단 등재(후보)학술지에 주저자로서 학술논문을 출판했거나 게재예정 상태여야 한다. 학술논문에 주저자가 표기되지 않은 경우, 해당학생이 논문작성을 주도했다는 사실을 학과주임교수가 확인하여야 한다. 학술논문 1편당 주저자는 1명만 인정한다. 이는 2009학년도 제2학기 입학생부터 적용한다.

   

6. 석사과정생은 첫 두 학기 동안 정치외교학을 전공분야로 선택해야 하며, 셋째 학기 초에 정치사상, 비교정치, 국제정치 중 택일하여 전공분야를 변경해야 한다. 이는 2017학년도 제1학기 입학생부터 적용한다.

   

7. 석사과정생, 박사과정생, 석·박사통합과정생은 기초공통과목을 선택하여 수강할 것을 권장한다. 기초공통과목 중 POL503 비교정치이론은 비교정치 분야, POL506 국제정치접근법은 국제정치 분야, POL509 정치사상사론은 정치사상 분야의 전공학점으로 인정한다. 이는 2017학년도 제1학기 입학생부터 적용한다.

 

8. 석사과정생은 첫 두 학기가 지난 뒤부터 전문가 트랙을 선택할 수 있다. 전문가 트랙을 선택하고자 하는 학생은 대학원에서 정한 기간에 석사학위논문 대체 제도를 신청해야 한다. 전문가 트랙 학생은 타 학과 교과목 포함 관심 분야 대학원 교과목을 6학점 이상 추가로 이수하고, 학과에서 실시하는 ‘사회문제 해결을 위한 정치 조사 방법 워크숍’에 참가한 후, 관심 분야 사회문제 해결을 위한 연구 보고서를 작성하여 심사를 받아야 한다. 이는 수료 이전 잔여 학기가 1학기 이상 남은 학생에게 적용한다.(2022.3월 개정) 


9. SCI/SCI/A&HCI 등재학술지 또는 한국연구재단 등재 (후보) 학술지에 주저자로서 출판했거나 게재예정 상태인 논문은 석사학위 청구논문 또는 박사학위 청구논문의 장으로 제출할 수 있다. 다만, 게재(예정) 논문을 학위논문에 사용하기 위해서는 [별표 1] 조건을 충족하여야 한다. 이는 2022학년도 제2학기 졸업 대상 학생부터 적용한다.(2022.6월 개정)

  

 

綜合試驗 

 

1. 정치사상 분야에서는 기초공통과목 및 세부영역에서 각 1문제씩 출제한다. 비교정치와 국제정치 분야에서는 이전 두 학기 동안 최소 1개의 교과목을 개설한 전공교수가 수업내용에 기초하여 일인당 1문제씩 출제한다.(2023.2월 개정) 

 

2. 종합시험 수험생은 본인의 전공분야에서 3문제와 학과 타 전공분야에서 각 1문제씩을 선택하여 답한다. 

   

3. 석사과정생은 종합시험 응시 전에 전공분야에서 6학점 이상, 학과 타 전공분야에서 각 3학점 이상을 포함하여 12학점 이상을 이수해야 한다.(2019.10월 개정)

   

4. 박사과정생은 종합시험 응시 전에 전공분야에서 9학점 이상, 학과 타 전공분야에서 각 3학점 이상을 포함하여 21학점 이상을 이수해야 한다.(2019.10월 개정)

   

5. 석·박사통합과정생은 종합시험 응시 전에 전공분야에서 9학점 이상, 학과 타 전공분야에서 각 3학점 이상을 포함하여 30학점 이상을 이수해야 한다.(2019.10월 개정)

   

   

부 칙

  

제1조(시행일) 이 내규는 2015년 2학기 입학자부터 적용한다.

   

제2조 종합시험 제2조는 2017년 제2학기 입학자부터 적용한다. 2017년 제2학기 이전 입학생의 경우, 합격하지 못한 분야가 전공분야인 경우 전공분야에서 3문제를, 비전공분야인 경우 해당분야의 문제를 택일하여 답한다.


[별표 1] 학술지 게재(예정) 논문을 학위논문에 사용하기 위한 조건

 1. 학술지 게재 논문을 정확히 인용하고 출처를 표시하여야 한다.

 2. 학술지 게재 논문에 대한 저작권이 있는 출판사로부터 사용 허가를 받고 그 사실을 논문에 기재하여야 한다.

 3. 학술지 게재 논문 공저자가 생산한 데이터나 기술 부분을 학위논문에 그대로 혹은 변형하여 사용하고자 할 경우 각각의 공저자로부터 해당 부분의 사용에 대한 허가를 받고 논문에 해당 사실을 기술 혹은 표시하여야 한다.

 학술지 게재 논문을 학위논문의 형식에 맞추어 다시 기술하여야 한다.

Degree Requirements

1. Doctoral and master's degree candidates must pass a preliminary departmental examination before submitting their dissertations to the examination committee. In the preliminary examination, a committee consisting of full-time professors evaluates the quality of dissertation proposals.


2. Students in the master's degree program must earn 9 credits or more from their major field of study and 3 credits each or more from the other fields of study. Including credits from other departments, the total credits should be more than 24 credits. This applies to all incoming students from Spring 2017.


3. Students in the doctoral degree program must earn 9 credits or more from their major field of study and 3 credits each or more from the other fields of study. Including credits from other departments, the total credits should be more than 30 credits. This applies to all incoming students from Spring 2021.


4. Students in the combined master’s and doctorate degree program must earn 9 credits or more from their major field of study and 3 credits each or more from the other fields of study. Including credits from other departments, the total credits should be more than 48 credits. This applies to all incoming students from Spring 2021.


5. In order to submit his/her dissertation, a doctoral student must have a published or forthcoming paper in an academic journal listed in SSCI/SCI/A&HCI/KCI. If the paper does not indicate its main author, the department head must confirm that the student played a primary role in completing the paper. Only one person is recognized as main author for each paper. This requirement applies to students entering the program in Fall 2009 or later.


6. Students in the master's degree program should choose only Political Science and International Relations as their major field of study for the first two semesters. They must change their field of study to Political Thoughts, Comparative Politics, or International Relations at the beginning of their third semester in the program. This requirement applies to students entering the program in Spring 2017 or later.


7. All students in the master's, doctoral, and combined master’s and doctorate degree program are encouraged to take the department’s basic common course. Among the department’s basic common course, POL503(Comparative Politics Theory) is regarded as Comparative Politics major course; POL506(International Politics Approach)is regarded as International Relations major course; POL509(History of Political Thought) is regarded as Political Thoughts. This requirement applies to students entering the program in Spring 2017 or later.

 

 

8. Students in the master’s degree program can choose the “Expert Track” after their first two semesters. Students who wish to choose the Expert Track must apply for the master's thesis replacement system within the period set by the graduate school. Expert Track students must complete at least 6 additional credits of graduate courses in their field of interest including graduate courses in other departments, participate in the ‘Politics Research Methods Workshop for Resolving Social Problems’ offered by the department, and write a research report for solving social problems in the field of interest for evaluation. This applies to students with at least one semester remaining before the completion of the coursework.


9. An article that has been published or is scheduled to be published as a main author in an SCI/SCI/A&HCI-registered journal or a KCI-registered (candidate) journal can be submitted as a thesis for a master's degree or as a chapter in a doctoral dissertation. However, in order to use the published (or forthcoming) article for the thesis or dissertation, the requirements in [Appendix 1] must be fulfilled. This applies from the students who are graduating in the second semester of the 2022 academic year.

 

 

Comprehensive Examination

1. For the field of Political Thoughts, the comprehensive examination consists of one question each from the basic common course (POL 509) and the sub-fields. For the fields of Comparative Politics and International Relations, professors who offered the graduate courses during the previous two semesters will write one exam question per professor based on his/her courses.(2023.02)


2. Students must answer three questions from their major field of study, and one question from each other field of study.


3. Students in the master’s degree program should complete more than 12 credits which include 6 credits or more from their major field of study and 3 credits each or more from other fields of study


4. Students in the doctoral program should complete more than 21 credits which include 9 credits or more from their major field of study and 3 credits each or more from other fields of study.


5. Students in the combined master’s and doctorate degree program should complete more than 30 credits which include 9 credits or more from their major field of study and 3 credits each or more from other fields of study.



Addendum

Article1. These bylaws apply to all incoming students from Fall 2015.


 

Article2. Comprehensive Examination-Article 2 applies to students entering the program in Fall 2017 or later. For students who entered before Fall 2017, if the field that did not pass is their major, they should choose 3 questions from their major field of study. If the field that did not pass is not their major, they should choose 1 question of the field. 


[Appendix 1] Requirements for Using an Article Published (Forthcoming) in an Academic Journal for a Thesis/ Dissertation

1. Cite the article published in the journal and indicate the source precisely .

2. Obtain permission for use from the publisher who has the copyright for the published article in the journal, and write that fact in the thesis/dissertation.

 3. If you want to use data or a part produced by the co-author(s) of the article published in the journal as it is or in a modified form, you must obtain permission for the use of the part from each co-author and describe or indicate the fact in the thesis/dissertation. 

Format

 The article published in the journal must be rewritten in accordance with the format of the thesis/dissertation.
